The Excalibur, a thing of beauty as much as elven chain mail armour.
Resembling a tall armed knight in full plate mail armour wielding both a
blade and carrying a shield. Used as a front line battle ship, both fast
and agile, deadly at the most. After battle's end, if needed, the
Excalibur can and will proceed after the nearest ship into Spelljamming
speeds and when the other ship at last reaches port or stops for
refueling and supplies will attack it with full force. The Excalibur is
usually manned by the more powerful warriors and rogues to ensure
skilled swordsman both in and out of the ship.
Gladius Class Vessel
Cost 28,000gp
Tonnage 3
Hull Points 3
Armour Rating 7
Maneuverability
Class C
Saves as Metal
The Gladius appears as a 60 ft long sword. In battle it does 1d3 hull
points of damage and 2d10 personal damage. Can also be thrown, treat
this as a piercing ram doing 1d2 hull points of damage, requires one
round of effort by the main node's pilot to pull free. Use main node
pilot's THAC0.
Aegis Class Vessel
Cost 30,000gp
Tonnage 5
Hull Points 5
Armour Rating 6, plated
Maneuverability
Class E
Saves as Metal
The Aegis, a 25 ft wide by 40 ft long shield, is used mainly for defense
but can be used in emergency situations as a blunt ram doing 1 hull
point of damage and a straight 15 personal damage. The Aegis can
sustain twice its tonnage in hull points before breaking apart. Use
main node pilot's THAC0.
Battle Helm
X.P. Value -- (method not discernible by PCs)
G.P. Value 50,000 plus 20,000 per additional node
The Battle Helm is currently in use by the Terra Fighting Force for
their Excalibur Class mech. Created by an industrious mage and a battle
hardy gnome named Alezi and Jack, respectively. The main node or "master
node" is where the pilot sits and flies the craft and each other node
called the "servants" are controlled by the main crafts pilot, each
servant node can control up to a 5 ton craft specifically designed for
use of a servant node; these weapon crafts are not manned instead they,
with of the servant node are controlled and wielded by the pilot of the
master node. These servant node crafts are referred to as vessels and
are usually solid; costing twice to four times the normal cost of a ton
of building material(i.e. a metal vessel weighing three tons would cost
anywhere from 5,000 to 10,000 gp in addition to the 20,000 gp for the
node itself). The range on the master node's control is about 3 hexes,
although at this range vessels can only be controlled back to the main
craft and cannot be wielded, vessels can be fully controlled up to 1 hex
away from the main craft. The main node provides a SR of 1 and for each
additional two servant nodes on the main craft(weapons sheathed, held
shields, etc...) the main craft gains an additional point of SR. This
helm also provides the main craft with the ability to reach Spelljamming
speeds, thus making the Excalibur Class mech. a very formidable
opponent. The Battle Helm may be used by any class including those
without spell abilities, as the helm is specifically enchanted to be
used by non-spell users and spell casters alike.
