I don't have a problem with dwarves being mages, after all dwarven mages are mentioned in one of the Cloakmaster novels if I remember right. There are also dwarven mages in mentioned in one of the Planescape products can't remember which one. IMC I allow for dwarven mages but they don't use the normal magic system they use Rune magic. I think the idea of rune magic fits the dwarven image better. I've yet to have a player run one so I have'nt got a workable rune magic system yet, but I figure I'll base it off of the one given in Giantcraft.
