Subject: Re: Christmas Deities (long)
I couldn't resist the idea--turning holiday icons into deities worshipped by
children. Can you tell I have a LOT of time on my hands? ((breaks into
quiet, insane mutterings)) Anyhow, here's the first of a number of little
guys you're going to receive. Who better to start with, after all, than
Santa Claus himself?

Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, et Joyeux Noël!

  Santa Claus
Greater Power of Elysium, Neutral Good

Portfolio: Children, Joy, Festivities, Gifts of Love
Aliases: Saint Nicholas, Sinterklaas, Papa Noël, Father Christmas, and
many others
  Domain Name: The North Pole
  Superior: None
Allies: Mrs. Claus, Balthasar, Melchior, Caspar
  Foes: None (everybody loves Santa!)
Symbol: A red hat trimmed with white fur, more commonly two bells tied
with a ribbon and
  a bough of holly
  Worshipper Alignments: Any Good
In his true form, Santa is an average-height, pudgy old man with a long
white
beard. He wears a red suit trimmed in white fur, with black boots, and a
black belt with a
simple gold buckle. He has kind gray eyes and a warm smile, and he has a
very contagious
smile. The most common worshippers of Santa are young children. Santa is
most
worshipped, and hence has the most power, from the months of September
through the
  twenty-fifth of December.
Santa can call, at any time, his eight flying reindeer; Dasher, Dancer,
Prancer, Vixen,
Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen, and their leader, Rudolph, who has a
separate entry.
The reindeer have all normal stats for reindeer, except that they have INT
15, they speak,
and they can fly with a maneuverability class of A.
Santa's closest ally is Mrs. Claus, his wife, and a lesser power of the
North Pole.
They met when he was still mortal, and they were married shortly before
his ascent to the
Christmas Pantheon. More about Jessica Claus is listed in another entry.
Santa is served also by many high elves who go about making the toys
for him.
These elves are of a special race which may live for 2,000 years, and they
appear solely in
the form of human children with sparkles on their cheeks and pointed ears.
Finally, he is
served by the demipower Wynter the Warlock, a sorcerer who sends snowfall
to any place
possible on the night of Saint Nicholas's arrival. This, of course, is
not generally possible
in certain warm climates, but Wynter does his best.

  Santa's Avatar (Mage 40/Cleric 40)
When in mortal form, Santa appears in his true form, the one discussed in
the previous
section. He can cast spells from the school of Enchantment/Charm and
Conjuration/Summoning. His priest spells come from the equivalent
spheres. As well,
when Santa smiles, everyone within range of sight feels a sort of warm,
happy glow. Santa
never enters a combat, and if he is confronted, he will simply vanish in a
mystical swirl of
sparkling faerie lights and snowflakes. As well, he is always accompanied
by two Christmas
  Elves.
On the twenty-fifth of December, Santa's avatar
loads up his sleigh on the Prime Material Plane and harnesses it to his
nine flying reindeer
and flies around the world to his worshippers, drops down the chimney, and
delivers
presents they have asked for from his bag of holding.

  Other Manifestations
Santa may also appear, with the same stats, as a tall, thin old man in a
regal red robe
trimmed in white fur. This form is known as Father Christmas, and is the
form most
  commonly worshipped in England.
