For distance I used 1.5 times the distance of the center of the system to the outermost planet. The sphere was a magical barrier, clear except for if you were a mage or on the Helm, then it appeared as a translucent barrier, and could be "felt" when the ship went through it. Going out, the Helmsman felt himself free, like he could fly forever. It's only now that the Helmsman could enter the Phlo, basically, a jump point like B5 opened in front of the ship, and the ship sailed into it, accelerating to FTL. Going into the Sphere, the Helmsman would feel a drag on the ship, like something was slowing or dragging on the ship, keeping it from FTL -----Original Message----- From: S. Or, if it's based on force, what force?
