I changed the phlogiston to be something like hyperspace from B5
The "crystal sphere's" are the gravity wells of the star systems
Wildspace extends infinitely, but mages on helms can see and feel the
crystal sphere's

Once past them however, the ship can enter the Phlo and go FTL

Oops! Sorry, what I should have said was that in my campaign that is where
he
dwells. You see, I had a problem with the cosmology of the AD&D universe,
especially the Phlogiston. So in my SJ campaign, high-tech ships fly
side-by-side with more traditional SJ ships--you see, the tech ships haven't
been able to break the FTL barrier, that's what spelljamming is all about.
To
do this, I posited that what TSR describes as the Phlogiston is actually the
Border Ethereal (hence the fractal colors found in both) and that is how
spelljamming ships make the trip through space.

I have been wondering how others incorporate the Phlogiston material into
their
campaign. To retrofit the Phlogiston to the Ethereal all I have to do is
make
ether flammable. The other way would disrupt my entire cosmology...(like,
there
is this place our ships go through, but we can't get there any other way; so
where is it and why is it there unless it be a 'deus-ex-machina' campaign
device?)
Is this living or just existence?
