Absolutely. This is a topic that has come up on the list before.
Coincidentally, after making my post on armour and such, I
thought about this subject, and sat down and whipped the the
ol' HP 48GX (one of the many tools of the True Nerd) and took
a look at some of the tonnages compared to their given sizes.
I had done this before, but not in some time. Even some of
the ships that sound good are off, such as the Hammership.
Some are WAY off, like the Nautiloid. By my rough calculations
just the shell portion of the Nautiloid is around 60 tons, not to
mention the rest of the ship.
This doesn't mean the DM needs to go and and change
everything. This is a fantasy game, afterall, not Starfleet Battles.
I haven't changed around most of the tonnages in my own campaigns.
The Nautiloid is a notable exception, though. I bumped it up to 70 tons.
The again, maybe I need to sit down and take a second look
at some of those tonnages...
