Hello All, all this talk about helms got me thinking about one supposed source of helms, the Reigar. Now, he's an idea I've been kicking around today: Suppose that what we know about the Reigar is all wrong. What I mean is that what if the Reigar did not come from some world in space. Instead, they are somewhat kin to fiends and upper plane beings: they are plane-born. Much like fiends are evil given form, Reigar were born from the imaginative thoughts of humanity, demi-humanity, etc. They are creativity given flesh. Reigar hail from a yet unknown plane (demi-plane?) where all the creative ideas of man collect. Within this (infinite?) plane, the reigar were born. Eventually, some left their plane. A few were Reigar, who settled on some random planet eons ago and became artists. Later generations of these Reigar would be the ones currently in space (after they discovered space travel); they conqured the Lakshu when those amazons attacked said world. Etc. However, the Reigar decided they needed cash. So they set up the Arcane as their middlemen and salesmen. Since repetition is not in the Reigar nature, they also conqured and trained a special race of mages (like they had created Lakshu) to "mass produce" helms. Because of the Reigar's particular nature, they have created the helms to work because the helmsmen inside it *believes* it works. The helm uses the imaginative energies of the helmsman to work; mages and priests work the best because their minds are more tightly focused and "aligned" to the planes (for the most part, they draw power from the planes). Your thoughts? -- Night Druid
