Hi everyone

Having received such good reactions to my Real-/ Fantasyspace post I
just had to hit you with another idea that I came up with.

I called it FunguSpace.
The most important thing in this sphere is the main world called
'Jelod'. So I won't bother you with the rest.
In most regards it still looks like your average Fantasy world, but
that's only skin deep ...literally ...
Everyone on this planet has been infected by a fungus. Everyone is at
birth. About 60% survive and grow resistant, about 30% die,
horribly, about 5% are totally immune and have nothing of this
creature in their system but 5% attain a state of symbiosis.
The point is this fungus is sentient and covers the entire planets
earthly surface, though you can't see it anywhere unless you know
what to look for. It can't grow on rocks nor in water, swamps or
deserts but everything else non hostile is penetrated by this
creature.
And it is dreaming.
The symbionts can join the dream by bringing a piece of their skin in
contact with the main fungus.
There they can shape parts of the dream, placing memories and images
they've got in their minds within it, and access them at another
time. They can even store spoken messages in this dreamworld which
appear as glowing silvery bubbles that can be popped to release what
they contain.
They can even make the fungus grow mushrooms, some to be eaten by
anyone else who will suddenly find images appearing in its mind
containing whatever the symbiont wanted that mushroom to contain,
some who will work like eyes that the symbiont can use to watch what
is happening at far away places. Others may look like a tiny mouth
that will speak into the reall world for the symbiont.

Okay that's it.
Tell me what you think, ask me whatever you want to know and excuse
me for my terrible english but I'm still only german *grin*
