Hi folx,

Well, with the advent of the ascension of a new list administrator and
such, I suddenly remembered I still had something lyin around here for
you folx. Feedback on this lil thingy is welcome, as always, even though
it's already been through an extensive testing phase involving two
members of this list. Enjoy,

Trailing Device
Cost: 20,000 gp
Another best-seller of the Arcane, the trailing device allows a ship to track
down another vessel with a better chance of actually intercepting it than
normal. It works only in conjunction with _antennae_of_triangulation_.
At any time during an encounter in wildspace the trailing device can be tuned
in on any object of 10 tons or more within 20 hexes (10,000 yards). As long
as the object being trailed doesn't enter the phlogiston, the device will
point in the correct direction, regardless of the distance between the two
bodies (and thus greatly exceeding the initial range of 24 hexes), and the
trailing ship will have only a 5% chance of erring in its direction of
pursuit (check once every 24 hours).
A trailing device looks much like a large crystal ball. However, when the
device is activated, by holding it in both hands and selecting one of the
ships on the tactical map, a black, floating arrow appears in the ball and
point in the right direction. The device needs only to be held for
activation; it will continue to operate until either the trailed ship or the
device enters the phlogiston, or the device is being tuned in on another
ship. In order to function properly, both the device and the ship it is
trailing must be fully located on the Prime Material Plane; use in any other
environments other than Wildspace or the Phlogiston will give random and
unpredictable results. Note that a crystal spheres shell blocks any
trailing attempts; so the trailing device and the object it is trailing
must be either both in the Phlogiston or both in Wildspace, for the
device to function. The trailing device can track only one ship at a
time, and each and every trailing device needs a seperate set of
_antennae_of_triangulation_ to function properly.
