If you were playing a druid in my campaign that donned metal armor,
you'd quickly find yourself without spells. Permanently. The reason
priest classes have weapon/armor restrictions is that the god powering
them says things like "Thou shalt not don any armor made of metal, nor
shalt thou wield any weapon with an edge." Going against the gods wishes
like that will quickly earn you a loss of priesthood and all that it
entails. In mild cases, such as the priest using a forbidden weapon to
slay an enemy of the faith because no other weapons that would harm him
were available, I'd be lenient and only withdraw spells and powers for a
week or so, provided the priest makes proper penance.
