Subject: Re: Terry's request
This isn't exactly a response to Terry's challenge for sharing
campaign info., but I thought I'd post it since I'm not going to use it
and it may spur ideas.
I couldn't sleep the other night so I dug up the Silmarillion and
came up with some notes for a SJ world.

World name: Arda
Type: round, flat earthworld, size F

Notes: Arda is a discworld. One side is simply rocky crust and has no
atmosphere. The other is comprised primarily of the ocean Ekkaia. The
ocean is prevented from spilling off the disc by a mysterious energy
field known as the Walls of Night. The Walls are impenetrable (even by
magic) and extend for several miles over the surface of the world,
creating an invisible dome. Ships must fly in through an opening in the
Walls at the top of the dome.
The ocean, Ekkaia, contains two great continents, Aman and Endor.
These continents are separated by an inner sea, the Belegaer.
Endor has a varied landscape and is the home of elves, men, dwarves,
halflings, and orcs, as well as many beasts and other creatures. Magic
is limited (standard wizards and priests almost unknown) and technology
is limited to the equivilent of Early Middle Ages Europe, with the
exception of metallurgy, stoneworking, and a few other crafts.
Aman is the home of three great races of elves and their protectors,
powerful angelic beings. These elves are great craftsmen and potent
warriors.

Further ideas: The EIN has discovered this world, but is not sure how to
treat it. The elves of Arda have no knowledge of other worlds and are
not spelljammer capable. Yet they are incredibly powerful in their own
way, much more than the Celestial elves of the EIN.

That's all I thought up. Anyone wants to run with Tolkien, here you
go. I'll post some other stuff I'm working on as well. Hopefully some
of my ideas will inspire some people.
