Are you saying that you would rather paly a game where a character gets killed nearly everytime that he gets hit? You must enjoy making new characters. Although I would not call it realistic, D&D is fun because PC's can get into fights without facing death every time. Otherwise, the PC's would spend a career running. Anything else would be stupid.
