Im not saying every hit should kill, Im just pointing out the that not
every hit is a flesh wound. If look at the possabilitys, even at 99:1
that the wound is leathel (sp?) ewventualy the character will recive a
lethal wound

In the immortal words of most action movies at some point: "I'm fine!
It's just a flesh wound!"

As you discuss "realistic" damage assessment and hit points, remember
that
most high-level hit point loss is not due to sustaining actual impacts
from weapons. It represents the luck and skill of the higher level
individual, and the fatigue and strain he suffers avoiding a potentially
fatal blow. Sure it isn't "realistic", but that's why I play
role-playing
games. If I wanted realism, I'd put down my dice and go for a walk
somewhere. It doesn't get much more realistic than real life.

Anyway, back to the hit points. They do represent luck and skill.
Because of that, I have finally worked out a system whereby players can
expend hit points to improve die rolls. I haven't tested it yet, so I
would apreciate the feedback.

Effect HP Loss
Extra +1 on hit roll (before the roll) 1
Extra +1 on hit roll (after the roll) 2
Extra +1 on damage roll (before the roll) 2
Extra +1 on damage roll (after the roll) 3
Hit a creature which requires a magical weapon
to be hit (per attack) 5 per plus
Extra +1 on saving throw (before the roll) 2
Extra +1 on saving throw (after the roll) 4

There's probably more I could add to the chart, but I can't think of
anything right now. Feedback is welcome.

To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence;
supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without
fighting. In the practical art of war, the best thing of all is to take
the enemy's country whole and intact; to shatter and destroy it is not
so
good. So, too, it is better to capture an army entire than to destroy
it,
to capture a regiment, a detachment, or a company entire than to destroy
them.
