In regard to the Specialty priest of Ptah. As I understand it, a priest can worship a specific diety without being a specialty priest. When he does, he uses the general spheres of the priest class, not the spheres listed for the particular diety. If this is the case, then if you want to have your cleric be a specialty preist of Ptah, you take the good with the bad. You use the spheres outlined, but you get special benefits. If the PC does not think that it is worth it, so be it, he can choose a different diety or be a normal priest. As for the increased healing, I think that your system may be a bit too much. I agree that the higher level spells are a bit weak, but your versions seem extreme. (Just an opinion). One house rule that works well for us. When rolling healing. We change the roll from a d8 to a d6+2. We have noted that the DM always let you re-roll 1's and sometimes 2's anyway. This seems to really help out. Again, this is just a house rule. The only problem with this is a healer kit that I saw somewhere. It's special ability was that it got to re-roll 1's. I think I might change this in my campaign to reflect that all healing is more powerful.
