Marines are a kit from the Complete Spacefarer's Handbook. The short
version of it is:
Requirements: Str 12, Con 13, Int 11
Weapon Prof required: The weapons in use by his unit. These commonly
include a missile weapon, a polearm, and a sword. Often it also includes
a large weapon (ballista, catapult...). They may not learn horseman's
weapons, nor nonmilitary weapons (blowgun, mancatcher, scourge, sickle,
trident or whip).
Non-weapon profs: Bonus: Spacemanship (being "crew" aboard a
spelljammer). Recommended: Armorer, Bowyer/Fletcher, Navigation,
Weaponsmithing.
Equipment: Must purchase the equipment used by their unit.
Benefits: Free specialization in one of the unit's weapons - you must
still pay the base cost of the weapon, but the spec is free.
Hindrances: Bound to unit - little free time to travel on ones own.
