Ya in AD&D you could take a slash to the gut take 20 points of damage and still survive the fight! I mean in real life your guts would be all over the floor and youd BE DEAD!!!!! But in AD&D high level heros are invinceable in real life human (elves draves..etc) are more delicate! I mean comeon in real life a guy gets a bullet to the abdomen and dies in AD&D a hero gets slashed hacked burned cut and diced and still manages to make it out _alive_!!! ----Original Message Follows---- To: spelljammer@????.com Date: Thu, 2 Jul 1998 08:07:14 -0400 Subject: [SPELLJAMMER] - Crossbows From: yoshi422@????.com (Will A Wagner) Reply-To: spelljammer@????.com You are right, archers are important people. If you ever played WarCraft you want to put a line of knights in front of a line of archers. Then, by the time the orcs get up to the knights they're basically pincushions :-) Archers lay cover fire for infantry/cavalry, and are really good in large numbers. For example warcraft again. elven Archers in a group of like 20 can defend a good sized abse almost by themselves. AD&D is incredibly unrealistic, because if someone sticks a longsword in you you take 1d8 damage , but in the real world you just kinda fall over and die. Warcraft is like that too, but it has 256-color graphics. :-) HawkAngel <<I believe that archers were useds as a ! THe archers would distract the knights and footsoldgers, I mean when you have 100 knights charging at you swords drawn what do you do call the archers. I mean lets face it not all people are like our PCs taking multiple arrow shots to various parts of thier bodies, they would fall to the _GROUND_. Like in the movies>> _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
