not only do I ALWAYS seem to agree with the stuff he posts, but the
language anecdote he posted is similar to ne we went through. I also use
all different fantasy fonts for puzzles and use French as the old
language of chivalry (Steeltongue) and ancient gaelic for the lagnuage of
woodlands creatures and so on (Feytongue). That way there is some
incentive for academically minded people to go out and learn something,
plus it connects the AD&D versions of myth and legend back into the
languages of the people who thought them up - an importent psychodynamic.
In the same sort of way, when spelljammers do the occasional time travel
jaunt and encounter the earlier worlds, they encounter races using the
"Shakespearian" version of common. Never had any complaints about all
this, either - far from it.
