By how you put it you could destroy an entire ship with one shot from a
shere. Is that how you work it in your campaign, cause Im interested on
how youd handel your PC's geting thier hands on a "superkill" weapon
like this.
  If you ask me this is they way a arms race starts, first the Elves
(the Us getting nuclear weapons), then the human military navy, then the
smaller navys (the equivilant of India gaining nuclear weapons) and so
on

This is an interesting ruling, but it makes Spheres superkill weapons.
I
would rule it as doing twice the damage of a disentegration spell.
