Those are cool ideas about language, especially the groundling
connection. :)

In my universe, space travel goes in stages, with long lulls
in trade and communication between "ages". This is why I didn't include
any reigar--and especially Juna--influences in the langauge. The elves
were simply the first major force in space in the "modern age". Before
them, there hadn't been major travel around the stars for several millenia.
And so, a "vulgar" form of elven became the dominant "space common".
Dwarves were the first "technological" race in space, so technical
works are still written in Dwarven (kinda like how Italian was used
for even non-Italian operas, IIRC). Strange accents between distant
areas and isolated outposts make communication slow, but still possible.

Anyway, that's the way I try to keep it in my campaign. :)
