Well, if as an earth-bound human with no flying capabilities you wear 
_boots_of_speed_, imbibe a _potion_of_speed_, have a _haste_ in effect, 
and take a quick sprint (movement x5), you will have a Movement Rate of 
480 (is that enough to break the sound barrier?). Something similar is 
bound to be possible for flying creatures, especially since most of em 
are pretty much faster than humans anyways.
