I think they should have provided CPHB stats for the new > psionics, too. Perhaps you may think that the psionics system from PO:S&P is is crappy, but I think the "original" psionics system from CPHB is way too powerful. How about taking that Disintegration power at level 4? It's possible in the original system. I think that hurts. But anyways, after having a psychometabolicist in the party - who almost did nothing but heightened senses (a practice that lead to many, many jokes) - my players were quite fed up with psionics. And I have to admit, so am I. So I left the psionics to the monsters and occasional NPC wild talents. Psionic monster remain cool, even though psionic PCs are not. Come to that, I suspect you state the PO:S&P psi system is crappy, because you think it makes the psis to weak. Then please let me horrify you by stating that in my campaign I allow Magic Resistance to best psionics. Serves them psychic little bastards just right. Besides, what the heck is a psionicist anyways? According to the CPHB, they're unrecognisable. In fact, they don't seem to have any place in society at all as well. Now that's weird. "Gee, what do we have here? A fighter, a paladin, a ranger, a wizard, a priest, a thief, and a bard. Oh, and some non-descript, unrecognisable, not-readily-identifiable git who really doesn't do anything at all when he's not adventuring. Well, I guess he must be a psionicist." May I remind you of the fact that the CPHB says that all classes can be recognized in some way - "you can identify a wizard by the ink stains on his sleeves" - whilst claiming that a psionicist cannot be recognized in any way? IMO, the psionicist class has absolutely no place in a fantasy setting. The CPHB completely fails to give any way to fit the psionicist into a fantasy society. Oh sure, they mention Uri Geller as an example of psionicist. But I really wouldn't want my players to meet a person like that in a fantasy campaign, because he certainly doesn't belong in such a setting. And besides, Uri Geller was a fraud. I don't want to insult any of you ppl that are so fond of psionicists, nor am I saying you shouldn't use the "original" psi system. But if you are so ensorcelled by them, I just want you to also see the other side of the coin. I hope I didn't step on anyone's toes. Well, not too hard anyways. ;) - Half-Drow
