Zwarths & Elves

<< For those of you without the MC9, a Zwarth is a giant "undead" insect,
 animated by the elves and used as kind of a Battlemech. >>

         According to the Complete Elves Handbook (and various other sources),
elves loathe undead, even drow hate them.  The Elfbook has a kit for any class
devoted solely to destroying undead.  So it goes against all logic that an elf
would have an undead battleweapon, even in something as grim as the UW, just
because the value life so much.

So I've to alternatives for like-minded people who like the zwarth but not the
undead:

        The little bug that zwarths (and the other spirit warriors) are made
from are naturally occuring, and grow in the same places that the Starfly
plant does.  It's usually a little bug until it finds a person to bond with,
and the two undergo the bonding process.  Then the two disappear for a little
while, and the bug forms into the zwarth or nektar or whatever it was going to
become (this is the one I use IMC).

         Or, the zwarth is a perversion of the starfly plant, like the flitter
and the man-o-war.  The elves engineer the zwarth and have to keep it trim
like a spelljamming ship.
