Not in my campaign. I've reason out in my own head that the gnomish
engine, while being one of the few gnomish inventions that works on a
regular basis, has a tendency to defeat itself when "supped-up".

Just think about a team of horses pulling a wagon. When two horses
pull a wagon you get a pretty good top speed out of it. but when you
add two more horses that top speed doesn't double, it just increases a
little.
