Ladies and geneltmen,

Take a deep breath everyone. This thread is being dragged into
some unpleasent areas. Remember that we are talking about a game setting
here, and not the nature of the world and humanities use/abuse therein.
Do you all think we could let this thread rest for a day or two
for tempers to calm down? Failing that, let's at least stay clear of
the discussion of real world morality.

Personally, I think something as large as the IEN *can't* have a
uniform policy on *anything.* There are plenty of real world examples of
how a political or military institution changes the rules when it suits
them. Personally, I also think that the IEN has long since "fallen from
grace," and is still the dominant power in space simply be virture of it's
inertia. The beaucracy and command structure has become extremly rigid
over time, to the point that supporting the demands of elves everywhere is
the line of least resistance.
Sort of like the British between the 1890s and World War I. There
were "evil" portions, but collectively the lot of them were totally
indifferent to anything not of direct interest to Britain. I think the
elves have taken a similar route.

That's my own take, but try not to go ballistic with flames.
Again, lets take a deep breath folks. As much as we all love
Spelljammer, it's still just a game.
Slow down folks. This thread is getting more out of hand.

Richard
