Some ideas for ship-to-ship spells could be drawn from the Book of Magecraft,
a Birthright accessory.  The Battle spells might work nicely (I'm having
images of Rain of Magic Missiles and Rolling Fire being tossed ship-to-ship).
Just a thought.
