So?  Genocide is genocide.  Definitions of evil may vary, but the
systematic attempt to exterminate an entire species is an evil act.
Justifying it by claiming self-defense, or that they are "evil", or any
other excuse that you can think of does not change this fact.  Genocide
against an evil race is no more justified than against any other race.

Furthermore, it was not just one race.  They targeted the entire group
they term "goblinoids":  orcs, ogres, goblins, hobgoblins, bugbears,
kobolds, etc.  They also did it as a carefully orchestrated, well thought
out effort.  It was not because the "goblinoids" forced them into the
position of kill or be killed;  they struck first as a "preventative
measure" against a group of races that would never have been able to be a
real threat to them.  It was far more like the Final Solution of the
Nazis than anything else.

Evil is evil.  At least the "goblinoids" never tried to justify what they
were doing.

Eugenics, eh?  That's a valid reason to atempt to exterminate entire
species and civilizations, isn't it?  Who's next on the hit parade, by
that logic?  Humans?  Halflings?  Thri-kreen?  Those three species would
also be valid targets by that logic;  they all breed quickly.  For that
matter, humans consistantly have proven to be a threat to elves and
thri-kreen consider them a delicacy.  Perhaps the next Elven War of
Extermination will be directed against humanity.
