Here's the story:

Slade was the designer working on the Encyclopedia Magica series.
Slade was the designer that was going to be designing the Infinity Sphere.
Slade had some mental notes on the IS, so he included write-ups of those
  items in the EM.
The SJ line was cancelled, and the few notes that Slade had written
  for IS were never used.
These notes presumably are still buried somewhere on Slade's home HD.
I asked him several times to try to find them, but he never got around
  to it before he was let go in Dec 1996.
I don't believe that Slade even wants to work at/for TSR any more; I
  recall him expressing dissatisfaction with the company while he was
  still employed there.  Perhaps this is why he has asked not to be
  bothered about the project any more.
