<< Space is not dark. In fact, the reason illithid (and drow) ships have
little to no open decks is because of the light being sent out by all the
stars and suns. See the WCC, book 2, in the very back about the variations
on ships. There is one called the Gnat, and then a Gnat with a dome. I
think there it says something about illitihids like the ship because of the
dome. Also check in book 2 under Squidship and Octopus Ship--and why
illithids use the latter. Space is sunny. >>

Mayhaps I am using real life knowledge, but space is far from being sunny.
It may be quite sunny on the sun side of the earth but if you head out towards
Jupiter you will find that our sunny sun is not so sunny anymore

in anycase - point taken but this should only be in effect when near a fire
world (say five orbits).
