I'm replying publicly because I'm really curious if anyone has heard this album and how they might feel about my interpretation. One piece of music that leaps to the fore if you're talking about a SpellJamming feel is an album called "Olias of Sunhillow" by Jon Anderson. I've got to warn you though, Jon Anderson is one of the creative forces behind Yes and he's largely responsible for their wacked out lyrics all through the 70s. If you liked their albums up to and including Tormato, get Olias as soon as you can! The reasons I say that it reminds me strongly of SpellJamming is it seems to be exactly what the album is about. Right on the cover is what appears to be some kind of Jammer that looks like a fish-like ship with wings. And it's definitely a concept album in that the tracks on the album all flow together and tell a story. As near as I can tell, it's about this guy called Olias that builds a ship, called the Moorglade Mover, because of a dream he had. And once the ship is built, the finally set sail but not onto the sea. It's hard to follow they lyrics (it's Jon Anderson remember) but it appears that they sail into the sky into some Roger Dean-esque type of fantasy world. It's a *great* album if you're into progressive rock. And no, Anderson didn't copy SpellJammer. The album was released in 1976. :-) Rick. --- http://www3.sympatico.ca/rpali/ --- Digger Whump #74 JetForm Pontiac http://www3.sympatico.ca/rpali/whump
