What do you think? What would it take to actually cloak a ship? > What class of PC? What amount of research. I already have some ideas of my > own but I'd like to hear your opinions As for cloaking a ship I found posting a couple of months ago that list what a cloaking helm is. it was listed in a dragon magazine I never saw. But here is a copy of the post Also this was present in the cloakmaster series books 2 and 3 Here is a short description of a cloaking helm for the benifit of those who don't have Dragon#159 Much the same a normal helm in appearance etc. Sold by the Arcane, so bound to be very expensive. Allows the mage to divert power from moving the ship into wrapping an illusion of empty space around the ship. This prevents the ship from being seen from afar, but doesn't effect the crew or spelljamming mage. The only way to detect a cloak ship is ESP, or similare detection spells. If a cloaked ship passes with 1000 yards of another ship the cloaked ship appears as a blurry spot in space, and light coming throught the area is altered, creating a slight rainbow effect around the edges of the cloak. This is hard to see but can be spotted by a trained lookout (base 10% chance). The cloaks can be maintained for a maximum of 3 turns per day and can be active only when the ship is at tatical speed. If the cloak ship attacks by using ramming or missle weapons then the cloak is dissipated. Gains a +4 bonus to suprise if attacking when cloaked though. Value 350,000 gp. Well hope that is useful for you. By the way in my campaign I altered this to allow the ship to remain cloak as long as someone remained on the helm, and the ship was at tatical speed. It could not however attack while cloaked and had to drop the cloak before attacking. The ship with the cloaking helm could however continue to remain cloaked as long as was needed. -- Darkstar e-Mail: hoss@???.???.au Home Page: http://www.box.net.au/~hoss Page Updates: http://www.box.net.au/~hoss/update.html >From the Darkness we came.
