Morning,

About David Sarkies post :

>>That is why I wouldn't have larger ships. Instead of increasing Helm
capacity - I would design a new system of helms for these larger ship -
such as a link helm where multiple helms can be combined. As for food and
water - if an old ship could carry enough supplies to make a six month
trip to Australian then any reasonably size SJ ship could also. One must
remember that when spelljamming - air supplies, food and water play and
important part. I suggest keeping the huge ship in the realm of
superpowers, not PCs.

Yeah!!! I agree. I've been reading this argument about huge ships and
thinking how interesting it is. This is AD&D in space. No carriers and
fighters or super destroyers. (I agree I like star destoriers and zero-gee
dog-fighting as much as the next guy, but...) The idea here is realitivly
small groups (adventurers) wandering around in the vastness of space
(wilderness) finding rocks and planets (caves and cities) with adventure in
them.
I personally have problems with putting to much tech in my campains, but I
think any government having ships of thousands of tons is wrong. Maybe a
"Temple of Elemental Evil" size ship floating around is okay, but that much
power in a political position screws everything up.
I liked the idea of doubling the range of the helms. It gives you more
ship to play with without destroying play balance.

Ok, I'm tired so I'll stop babaling and sleep.

ps if anyone is interested I have a concept on magic involving channeling
and normal magic. I could post it.
