Oh, I completely agree.  The only time I can have any fun is if I throw out all
the rules & just make stuff up.  Besides, my 58,000 ton battleship with mystical
death rays an impenetrable god-skin plating would kick your but up an down the
spaceways.

I've always wanted to include big ships into SJ, and have done so with my
Runedarspace campaign. I basically ignored the fact that there were no
ships larger than 100 tons(with the exception of larger citadels) and went
ahead and designed the greathelms which are specifically  created to power
large ships. The biggest ship I've created is a 1200 ton carrier. I know
some people are doing a double take on that, but I've always thought you
shouldn't be constrained by the rules if you want to enjoy the game. "You
can't do that because the rules say so!" just doesn't cut it for me.

I based the ship on an AOL user's campaign he posted to TSR Online at AOL.
He has a ship that is 2000 tons!

As a side note, I enjoyed your post on the new ship construction rules.
