Re: Wild Mages and Spelljamming helms

Excellent points.  Using a helm does NOT involve casting.  It more or less
drains inherent magical energy from the caster (That's why he needs rest
after spelljamming).  A wild mage would not need to worry about level
variation or wild surges, but for ye who love your little d20s, the Level
Variation would be easier to justify.  Still, being that no spells are being
cast, neither of these are truly necessary.  Now I'm thinking of maybe a Wild
Helm that requires the casting of a 1st level spell to operate, and which
could give a wild mage an edge for movement (normal rules on the spell, but
roll Level Variation for purposes of piloting the helm.  The helm would come
in two versions, Minor and Major....).  Anyway, it's just an idea.
