The hero levels seems a bit off. How about a more direct correlation, like one level equals five points. Monsters could be as you suggested, .1 of XP value. However, I think it complicates things a bit too much to allow heroes and dragons. Otherwise, I'd just sink all my points in mages, ki-rin, beholder overseers, and maybe a Man O'War. (Yes, I know I'm the one who criticized them, but with a living ship you can cast spells like Stoneskin and Armor.) Hemlock
