Well, first off, it would be nice if you could use a subject line, so we
can identify the contents of the message.
In DL, the dwarven spell casters are Theiwar. They are not human-dwarven
crossbreds, they are full blooded dwarves. I believe the Daergar and the
Zakhar have savants too. (As I said in my last post, I can't find my books
with this but I did find the Tales of the Lance book.) They may or may not
work well in your kingdom, depending on how the relations are between the
alignments. They live with the other dwarves in DL, and run the empires
government as part of a council with the other dwarves. (This is not true
for the Zakhar.) If the degenerate spell casting mages are seperated from
the normal dwarves, they may be tolerated in this kingdom. (They are
dwarves, of course, not short-lived impatient humans or flighty arrogant
elves.) If they did fly the ships, they would probably not get along with
the rest of the crew if it were made up of normal dwarves. ("Watch out for
the pilots. They fly the ship and then if you're in the way when they go to
their quaters, they'll run right over you. And since they're so elite, the
captain stands up for them, even if you are in the right. At least they
understand the concept of work, unlike those elves who just don't
understand the work ethic. What a waste of a life.") Or they could run the
ship as well as pilot it, but it's doubtful that the kingdom would give
this kind of power to these dwarves without some protection. On the normal
ships, they could at least have a lifejammer or something if the pilot
tried to rebel. What dwarf wouldn't loyally give up their life if it were
needed to save the life of their friends.
Besides the DL stuff, just my opionion (and my spelling (-:).
