There was a major discussion, I believe, in the FR listserv about dwarven
mages. I would think that a Dwarven mage would have to worry about magical
resistance in regards to items that he/she uses mostly. If I were to allow
dwarven mages IMOC, IMHO I would allow them to be some type of "special"
kind of dwarf that was allowed by some god or another to access the weave to
cast spells. I would probably limit their abilities in some way other than
just mag. resistance in regards to items but I will have to think about it
and get back to you. Remember, it's your campaign and especially when
dealing with Space Dwarves in an outdated gaming system(I SHALL NEVER COUNT
PLANESCAPE AS A VIABILE OPTION IMHO), certain rules may be bent, or even
broken. Try out some variations and see if it makes the class too powerful
or not powerful enough. Try to gain a balance within. One thing I would
think of adding also is to make it so that a PC class dwarven mage could not
multi-class, make them a bit more frail than the other Dwarves in some way.
Have the ridicule from the other dwarves about the PC help build a
background for his/her magical studies...
