The example was that you could travel between A and B, B and C,
but not A and C. This implys bidirectional rivers. If you could get
from A to B, but not back, there'd be one-directional rivers. I think
I asked this before, does anybody use one-directional rivers?

I think you're right. Spoting a ship is very difficult beyond
~50 miles, if I remember my physics right. At SJ speeds, 50 miles are
covered in ~0.0000025 secs.
