The phlogiston is actually a substance that runs between spheres, but does not occupy all space outside of the spheres. Ships travel in "the flow" (the phlogiston) because it greatly enhances the speed at which one can reach an adjacent sphere. Travelling in space outside of the sphere *and* outside of the phlogiston will take many times longer to reach your destination. My point is: Phlogiston DOES NOT occupy the entire space outside of the spheres. It's like a river that runs between the spheres. That's why one can reach certain spheres from other spheres using the phlogiston and not travel back the same way. i.e. travel from sphere A to sphere B, but not back to sphere A from sphere B using the phlogiston. I don't play w/ "Greyspace", "Krynnspace", or "Realmspace", but I seem to remember that this is holds true between two of the three. > > > >Where are jamming speeds possible? > Anywhere far enough away from another ship or a planet. > > > >How far can a helmsman "see" another ship while jamming along (or are > >interceptions coincidental)? > ? He's asking this: if Ship A is travelling at Spelljamming speeds, can ship A see ship B before "coincidental contact" is made. I believe the answer is NO, but I could be wrong about this one.
