Having some space travel makes the AD&D universe make a little more
sense then it normally does. I always had a problem of having 50+
intelligent life forms all sharing the same world. Either the race in
question is too odious to ever survive as a society, or humans are
racists who drove them into extinction and insanity.

But having them come from other worlds, ahhh! So that Illithid in the
dungeon, or whatever could be a stranded traveller or three, accounting
for their rarity, but also accounting for their existance. Or on a more
sinister note, they are on whatever planet to a) snack or b) steal, or
subvert something on this planet.

It's a hodgepodge still, but I am slugging away to make it fit togather!
