The how to and whys on flying a spelljammer ship.

I must be one of the few people that actually understand how the flying of
a ship and the need for rigging works.  Their are three axis that need to
be achieved to properly fly a spelljammer vessel.

The helm of the ship allows that ship to move in any direction that is
desired. but the actual ship does not turn or rotate.  The driver can
change the orientation of the gravitational plane, but can not change the
orientation of the ship

(Try this for an example.  Pick up a pencil, you have to hold it always
facing in the same direction. You can move the pencil in any direction
desired but the pencil must always face the same way. )

(Next you are allowed to rotate the pencil two ways about the center up or
down is one way allowing you to rotate the pencil around in that direction.
 The other allows you to roll the pencil about the center  turning it
upside down if you wanted)

But there is still one component missing for full mobility of the ship

The need for sails and such comes into play with oriented the ship in a
particular direction.  The ship sits in the gravitational plane which the
helm navigator controls,  but the ship must be physically turned to give it
the proper alignment for say ramming, docking, and such

(Now you are able to rotate the pencil along the horizontal axis, allowing
you to turn the pencil to the left and right.)
