Personality: Logan is a good natured minotaur, as minotaurs go. His
passion for magic drives him to excel in the mystic arts, while his lust
for battle allows him to strengthen his fighting techinque. He always
has a smile and has a weakness for damsels in distress. He is quiet
though,
almost brooding at times, but when a fight breaks out, he either started
it or will end it.
History: Born in the Jungles of Chult to a little known clan of minotaurs ,
whose history in Chult goes back to another world (Krynn, but its been a
long time) Logan was one of the strongest and most able bodied warriors in
the tribe. On his fifteen birthday, an enemy tribe, paid by slavers from
the Calimshan attacked their solitary tribe. Caught unaware, most of the
tribe was slaughtered and he was captured. Sensing that he would fetch a
high price in the slave markets, he was bound and send via ship to
Calimshan. Soon after he arrived, he was put on auction and surprisingly,
he was sold to a mage. Olivier, the mage, desired a slave for the housework
and menial tasks as he advanced his learning and study in the Art. There he
became the mage's assistant and cook, creating many Chultan delicacies as
well as purchasing spell components for the mage. Olivier, the mage,
originally thought Logan to be a non-intelligent demihuman, but after he
found him one day trying to read the cover of a spellbook, he became
intrigued. Over the span of many years, Olivier taught him the rudiments of
magic, as well as Common as he helped the mage learn how to defend
himself.
One night, a rival mage sent some assassins to dispatch Olivier. The
assassins, knowing of the minotaur,
enspelled the minotaur to sleep and slew the mage. Then the assassins
placed the bloody knife in the unconsious minotaur's hand. The guard
arrived and tried to subdue Logan. He slew two guardsman and fled. Knowing
no on else and seeing little option, he stole back into his master's home.
Logan took his master's portable hole and spellbooks and fled from
Calimshan. There is still a bounty of 1000 gold on his head to this day. He
fled North, trailing a caravan to Waterdeep.
The caravan was besieged by a band of undead, he attacked a zombie with a
magic missile spell and helped the caravan leaders defeat the rest of the
undead. In appreciation, the head guard, Willson, gave Logan a magical
knife to help defend himself again undead such as they had just fought.
Oddly enough
the next evening, they were besieged again by even more undead. Taking
grave losses the caravan had to turn back. The merchant company who owned
the caravan charged Willson and Logan to clear the trading lanes so their
products can go through. After a few nights, the duo discovered that the
undead were being led by a vampire. The next morning, the two found the
coffin of the vampire deep in a crypt
a mere mile from the main caravan route. As they were to set upon the
undead creature, another vampire attacked them from behind (Actually there
was only one, it was a programmed illusion in the coffin).
Willson was drained as Logan picked up a sword from the floor and skewered
the vampire. Hissing, the vampire turned to mist and fled. Panicking, Logan
kept the sword and fled. Now armed with a magical sword and knife, he
continued North to Waterdeep.
There he frequented poker houses, an affectation from his time with
Olivier, spending his money, drowning his guilt in gambling. He did win
once in a while, even acquired a flametongue sword from a very drunk
barbarian. Arm wrestling does it every time ;-)
Months later, after floating from one caravan job to another, he heard
reports of a man fitting Willson's description on caravan duty from
Waterdeep to Hill's Edge. Missing the caravan that Willson was supposed
with, he joined the next one to Hill's Edge. He just arrived and is looking
for Willson as well as some more income, so any guard/mercenary work would
be more than welcome as he searches for his lost "friend".
