Boy, it's been pretty quiet on this list recently. Where did everybody go? Anyway, I have yet a third theory on gravity. It's a little involved, and I'm not sure if I'd actually want to use it in my campaign. Here it is: I call it "gravity by consensus", and it exists as a compromise between the other two theories of gravity. What you do is when any ship leaves port you take a vote. See who believes in contact gravity, and who believes in gravity at the atmospheric envelope. The theory with the most votes wins, and that is how gravity works for that ship. Now, when two (or more) ships intersect atmospheres, compare add together the totals from both ships, and the new total determines how gravity works while the two ships are within atmosphere range. Example: A 10 ton and a 50 ton ship intersect atmospheres. All 10 people on the little ship believe in gravity at atmosphere, while the 50 ton ship believes in gravity on contact by a bare majority (26 to 24). The new total is as follows: 34 people in the encounter believe in gravity at atmosphere, while 26 believe in gravity at hull contact. 26 people on the 50 ton ship are outvoted and suddenly quite surprised to see crewmembers falling from the little ship screaming for help. There you go. A new theory of gravity, just to muddy the waters. Enjoy, and here's hoping to hear from everyone. Rich Gant "Ssshh. Be vewy, vewy quiet. I'm hunting wabbits."
