With all of the psionic abilities that article gave the Aboleth, and the notes on their culture, they can really be made Cthulhuesque. Instead of Spelljamming on their own, they would use psionically dominated, mucous-enslaved races to do their bidding. The Grand Aboleth would squat at the center of a labyrinth of slaves and dimension travelling guards, manipulating the fate of whole worlds. In addition to the slaves, the Aboleth travel to other worlds and dimenstions with the power of their minds to collect artifacts (i.e. magical and technological items) and slaves. A mid-level party could encounter one of these Collectors and it's entorage of slaves, bent upon adding them to the Aboleth's power base. I would use the Aboleth in Spelljammer not as a race to confront directly (not at first, anyway) but as a race similar to the Shadows from Babylon 5. They manipulate the "lesser" races from behind the scenes, in a long-term effort to establish an Aboleth Empire that spans the Spheres. Rich Gant
