I believe that the kobold paratroopers referred to were indeed in an
April issue.  It was intended as a joke.  The main kobold leader had a
couple of magic items that he used in leading the troops.  He dressed in
military fatigues.  I would look it up, but I would have to drive an hour
and a half home, then look through about 300 issues of Dragon magazine.

Also found in that issue is mort the orc,who is cursed and blessed by the
gods, and also has a halitosis breath weapon,  a halfling
(nimblefingers?), and a few other "heroes".
