Does anyone besides me find some irony in the close proximity of the phrases "Destroy World or Sphere" and "Good Guys"? After reading the discussion on this group, what the Neogi did doesn't seem particularly unreasonable. It seems the principle in operation is that the Elves, Illithids and Beholders are going to unite in order to preserve their ability to war ceaselessly on those they disagree with. What exactly is so great about the current political situation in Grey, Krynn and Realmspace to expect unity from them? Why not do what the ancient Greeks always did? Roll over, play dead, call the conquering General a god, and egg him into arming them in the superior methods of the Vodoni and taking over the empire for himself. If the goal is to preserve the lives and way of life of the three spheres, going after Vulkaran isn't going to do it. Faced with a threat of the magnitude of the Vodoni, some form of unity would be needed to bring enough resources to bear to confront them. So instead of the Vodoni conquering and unifying the spheres, you'd have this 'well-meaning' alliance using the same tactics in the holy principle of keeping Germany German, er... keeping the campaign world familiar to the hordes of gamers. Isolationism is not possible after encountering a multisphere power that is expanding. What _I'd_ do is colonize the _hell_ out of Herd Space. Build the population up to a few trillion and the _squish_ the Vodoni. Herd Space has more habitable area than all the other spheres combined. Michael Sandy
