Greetings!
Loads of great ideas, where shall I start? Eugene wrote:

a way of putting out their sun. Or how about selling the sphere to some outer
planar creatures? Or destroying the connecting phlogiston rivers? Heck, if the
arcane can destroy a sphere (or two), why can't the we?"
Now here we go! That might be the right approach to the problem. I think the
Vodoni have such superiority in numbers that some drastic steps have to be
taken.
My main fear is that these things might seem somewhat over the top, but on the
other hand there are precedents for putting out the sun (Crystal Spheres and
Astromundi) or letting in loads of outer planar creatures (Astromundi again).
The latter strategy won't work in Vodonispace though, as the
space-time-continuum of Vodonispace has been drastically altered by the Nova so
that the Outer Planes cannot be reached any longer.
I have only got vague recollections of the Illithid plot to extinguish the sun
of Clusterspace, but seem to recall that it involved bringing lots of devices
into place; same should hold true for the Darkness Device used in Crystal
Spheres. This might be a major obstacle for following this venue in Vodonispace,
as it would be extremely problematic to bring any huge device unscathed through
the Web surrounding the inner worlds and the sun. Also there would still be the
Vodoni fleet to reckon with, as I assume it will take some time to maneuver such
devices into place. As I haven't got any exact data on either the Sundeath or
the Darkness Device, all this is mere speculation. Maybe someone can check up
the modules. Also, I just wondered what effect "putting out the sun" would have
on Vodonispace; if I recall correctly this does not entail the destruction of
the worlds, but "just" the extinguishing of all light (and heat?) from the sun -
I mean, the Illithids and the Vampire from Crystal Spheres had planned on
staying in these spheres, didn't they? The effect might thus be only a long-term
one (crop failure), which would give the Vodoni time to think up some
countermeasures (like the Sun Seeds from Crystal Spheres).
Other world-wrecking tactics which come to mind might be the use of
Constellates, if one can get some Aperusa elders to use the powers they have
relating to them. Question is whether the Aperusa have to have specific
knowledge about the constellation's sphere (might be a mjor problem with
Vodonispace constellates, if they haven't been changed by the Nova). Are there
any other Armageddon devices mentioned in the Spelljammer supplements?
Other world-wrecker strategies might be the use of Witchlight Marauders, the
Reigar Master Stroke, or the magic employed by the Elves to blow up Borka ("The
elven priests prayed to their gods while the mages developed spells of
cataclysmic power. When the time was right, and with the help of their deities,
the elves struck the world of Borka with a titanic blast of extradimensional
magic. This blast of energy split the crust of Borka like an eggshell,
shattering the planet into the thousands of rocks fragments it is today",
Greyspace, p. 55). The latter incidient seems especially worthy of note, as it
is also mentioned that the elves realized something then "that has coloured
their military thinking since that time: planetary invasion is expensive, in
terms of manpower, ships, and material: planetary >destruction< is not"
(Greyspace, p. 55). Seeing that I suppose that they definitively will think in
the direction of a world-wrecker strategy. The question is a) whether such a
strategy will work in Vodonispace since the gods effectively wield no power
there and b) whether the elves still have the knowledge needed for such an
operation. Is there something as to that in the supplements? I am sorry that I
can not be more precise, but I've only got Under the Dark Fist and the
Realmspace, Greyspace and Krynnspace supplements handy, all the rest being in my
other place. Guess what I'm going to bring along I'm there next time ...
Any ideas, comments and other examples for world-wrecker strategies are most
welcome! BTW, what's the best way to destroy a phlogiston river, Eugene? ;-)
