My intention was to allow a mixed genre of science and magical ships to
interact meaningfully. My goal is to "translate" an actual science based
ship into the spelljamming setting. This requires some quite minor rules
changes in the Spelljamming setting and a bunch of rules to handle the
Science based ships.
I and my players thought it would be challenging to play such a crew
facing a fantasy universe. We have started a "voyager" like campaign with a
twist. The Klingons have moved in with them. The PC's need to gain
co-operation of the elves and humans of Spelljamming space in order to
prevent the conquering of whole spheres in a range war.
So no it won't work for a "purist" but it should work for anyone who runs
a fantasy campaign; where by definition literally anything could happen. Or
as Science is fond of stating "Anything that can happen does."
I and my players have used AD&D adaptions for many other campaigns
covering modern day science/fantasy adventures ranging from dark whodunits
to fantasy/science warfare.
Thanks for your critique Chris, any other ideas on the psionic effects of
the great barrier? BTW "High Esper rating" right now is any ability score
that causes an increased likelyhood of a wild talent.
