You have a point there.  I played a drow fighter long before (1st edition
Unearthed Arcane) the Drizzt series came out, and Zai'Daithear is modeled
after him.  Now everyone thinks, he's modeled after Drizzt.  Don't get me
wrong, I like the series, but DD is  not the only non-evil drow out their.  I
thought about changing him to another class or to female, but when the word
"drow" comes up, their is no way to avoid the comparison (we've been
conditioned).  The character is actually closer to Spock, the one odd crew
member type.  I do sort of  wished I'd changed him to the female fighter with
a moahawk (an elven bladesinger someone played in my game) , but it was
pointed out that she would seem too much like Storm of the X-men (can't win
for loosing).  Thanks for your input.
