A friend of mine and I were talking about a couple nifty ideas for
Spelljamming ships. Since he hasn't posted them yet and he always screams at
me that I don't post enough I'll tell you about them.

Imagine an entire ship made out of Glassteel. This ship would be
incredibly durable(like steel). It would also be one of the most beautiful
ships over to sail through space. While privacy could be a problem a few
permenent darkness or beeter yet continual light(more artistic is slightly
less effective) should solve most of the problem. Also it would be fairly
cheap. Glass is one of the cheapest materials there is(sand) andf the
material component for the spell is just glass and a bit of steel. While
it's an eighth level wizard spell(from the players handbook) it affects a
large amount of glass(10 pounds per level and you'd have to be at least 16th
level). It would have to be done in pieces but it shouldn't be to much of a
problem. Properly done this ship would be harder to see and if well kept
would truly force awe on viewers.
Also I think there should be a bardic helm. Bards often cast magic
with their music so some special musical intrument would work better for a
bard then a normal helm. A pipe organ would work especially well. The music
from the instrument could be heard all over the ship and into some
surrounding area.
I think the ultimate ship(other than the spelljammer itself) would
be a glasteel ship with a bardic helm. I think one of my characters is going
to make that one of his life's quests.
