Oops, sorry, wrong 'men in space' universe.   :-)

Seiously though, why let it bother you ?   It's the same as to why
(using FR for a moment), the people in Faerun speak the same language
as Zakhara and Maztica etc.

Besides, we're talking flying ships in space here.  Realism is non
existent :-)
